"STORESUND" IMO n° 5159703 /Dän. Schlepper im NOK unter der Levensauer Hochbrücke in den 90ern |Built by Mutzelfeldtwerft Gmbh at Cuxhaven in 1954, "Impetus" was the first diesel Powered Tug to operate on the River Tyne (Newcastle area) in England, thus starting the end of the steam powered era. She was later sold to J.Johannesen & Son of Lubeck and renamed "Joachim". She was bought by Svenborg Bugser A/S in 1984 and renamed the "Storesund", the first of two tugs to bear the name under the Svendborg Bugser colours. She served us well until 1997, before being sold on to the Genovese Company Madera, being renamed Madera V in the process. The latest information we heard about her was that she was operating off the coast of Equatorial Guinea - West Africa, towing logs out to waiting ocean going ships.
