History: M/S Årdal was built 1980 in Norway for a Norwegian company and used around Norway for 12 years. She was built to Det Norske Veritas Class. 1992 she was bought by The Swedish Navy and renamed to HMS Sleipner.
The Navy kept her in Det Norske Veritas class for two years. Then the Navy changed policy and had their own inspection/class The Swedish Naval Safety Inspectorate.
Sleipner is and was kept to the highest standard and during 2005 she was totally sandblasted and painted at a cost of Euro 400.000. 2007 – 2008 Main Engine and Generators was totally renovated at a cost of Euro 800.000.
Same time the Main Electric Switch board was rebuilt and upgraded for a cost of Euro 100.000.
HMS Sleipner has for the Navy been around Africa, around the Mediterranean and the Baltic Sea with ammunition, weapon, vehicle’s, boats and necessities. 2009 Special Survey is done and all electronics on bridge are all new.
